150 year anniversary

Occasion had the honour of being chosen to design, plan and produce the 150th anniversary celebration of the Sandvik Group in 2012. In addition to the celebration itself, the goal was to strengthen the brand both internally and externally.



To create a concept that embraced all anniversary activities, regardless of culture, occasion and channel.

Sandvik wanted to present a unified image of the company to all of its 55,000 employees around the world, and to show the way to a bright future. The anniversary was also a good opportunity to strengthen Sandvik’s employer branding on the labour market and among students.



Occasion developed the event strategy in the concept called “The Sandvik Journey” with the aim of reflecting Sandvik’s history and future. A journey through the company’s 150-year history, from Swedish engineering excellence to an industrial world leader.
The celebration included five banquet nights for the company’s 13,400 employees in Sweden and an 8000 m² exhibition for the public. Globally, 370 select Anniversary Ambassadors were put in charge of holding celebrations at all of Sandvik’s locations around the world.



The “Sandvik Journey” theme was a powerful concept that worked in all cultures and all channels. The survey results showed that 99.3% of employees felt that the anniversary contributed to an enhanced sense of pride in working for Sandvik. 95.19% of the students who visited the exhibition would consider working for Sandvik in the future.
